Hi, I'm Jo, and I'm asking for your help for my incredible wife, Flick.
For almost 10 years we've shared a wonderful life together in South Waikato. In 2025, everything changed. Flick lost her job in February, and just three months later she was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer that had spread extensively to her liver.
Since then, we've been fighting with everything we have. Alongside intensive chemotherapy, we travelled to the United States where Flick underwent her first Histotripsy treatment. The procedure was successful in treating some of the lesions and has given us something we desperately needed—hope. It has given Flick the chance of more time and a longer life, but further treatments are needed, and they are only available overseas.
We're raising funds to help make those treatments possible while easing the financial burden that comes with this journey. Donations will help cover travel and treatment costs for future Histotripsy procedures, along with heating, petrol for hospital visits, and everyday living expenses as Flick continues chemotherapy.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps bring us one step closer to giving Flick more time—more birthdays, more memories, and more precious moments with the people she loves.

Use of funds
03/08: We are looking to raise funds to cover the unfunded Histotripsy treatments which cost around $100K NZD per treatment.
All donations will go directly towards keeping the heating on for Flick, covering petrol costs for travel to and from medical appointments, and funding supplementary treatments to support her through chemotherapy.

Good day everyone.
Last week we got the news that the oral Chemo Flick has been taking is no longer keeping things under control. The decision was made to begin IV Infusions again. For the next few months, each fortnight Flick will be back on the 'ol weedkiller'. This brings its own challenges. Least of all the massive hit to her immune system, the nasty side effects, sleeplessness, brain fog and tiredness. But also, the travel to and from the clinic. We will be calling upon our chemo support team soon to assist with transport to and from treatment.
Meanwhile, Flick remains resolute in her determination to stay well and continue doing the things she loves, tennis, dog walks, building projects, and most importantly spreading the word on Histotripsy and other treatment options for other people who have been given this dreadful diagnosis.
Flick is available and happy to talk to anyone, patients, family members, friends to share the knowledge she has gained through her own investigations and studies.
Join me in supporting her through this next phase of treatment while we enter this next challenging phase.
