A Chance For More Time

    Good day everyone.

    Last week we got the news that the oral Chemo Flick has been taking is no longer keeping things under control. The decision was made to begin IV Infusions again. For the next few months, each fortnight Flick will be back on the 'ol weedkiller'. This brings its own challenges. Least of all the massive hit to her immune system, the nasty side effects, sleeplessness, brain fog and tiredness. But also, the travel to and from the clinic. We will be calling upon our chemo support team soon to assist with transport to and from treatment.

    Meanwhile, Flick remains resolute in her determination to stay well and continue doing the things she loves, tennis, dog walks, building projects, and most importantly spreading the word on Histotripsy and other treatment options for other people who have been given this dreadful diagnosis.

    Flick is available and happy to talk to anyone, patients, family members, friends to share the knowledge she has gained through her own investigations and studies.

    Join me in supporting her through this next phase of treatment while we enter this next challenging phase.

  • Histotripsy treatments

  • Diagnosis

    We have just received the latest update after the first scan following the first histotripsy treatment. The scan shows histotripsy was successful for the 5 tumors it targeted. Unfortunately it also shows the remaining 11 or so appear to be growing again indicating that I am no longer responding to chemotherapy.

    This means I am left with little option but to get more histotripsy treatment as soon as possible.

    Histotripsy is currently only available in the states (for someone like me who has multiple tumors) and is completely self funded.

    I will probably need at least 2 follow up sessions possibly 3.

    We are looking to raise funds to cover the treatments which cost around $100K NZD per treatment.

  • Flicks Amazing Journey Continues

    In October 2025 the primary tumor was removed. It went without a hitch. In May 26 we finally got accepted for histotripsy treatment and headed for Southern California. We are awaiting the results of this treatment. Huge thank you to the team at Elite Interventional in Viejo. Oustanding service and support. Huge thanks to our Oncology team in Tauranga, and a heartfelt thanks to our family and friends for your ongoing support.

  • Flicks Next Big Challenge Update

    Thank you to all who have donated. We desperately need your help to get Flick overseas for treatment which is not available in NZ. Our new goal will be $50,000.00. if you are willing to help or know someone who is, we'd appreciate any assistance.
