Looking to raise funds for purchase of specialised thermal imaging camera to aid with Search and Rescue efforts in Otago

Otago

I'm an on call / as needed volunteer for Wakatipu Search and Rescue, providing aerial imaging via UAV. I'm wanting to raise funds for the purchase of an FLIR or thermal imaging camera to add to the UAV I currently pilot. It will greatly improve the S&R capabilities of the operations I will take part in, by giving us the ability to spot people in complete darkness.

The camera will help us find people in urgent need of rescue much faster than conventional aerial searching methods and the UAV can get into tight spaces where full size helicopters cannot.

I have several years experience flying UAV and hold a current RPA Flight Management Certificate. I would be the pilot in command in any S&R missions where specialist UAV assistance is required.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
