Started over a year ago

Please help us to raise funds for Te Karaka after the devastation of cyclone Gabrielle.

Te Karaka, Gisborne

The small township of Te Karaka (inland from Gisborne) was hit hard by flood waters from cyclone Gabrielle. About 500 people evacuated to a hill early Tuesday morning as the Waipāoa awa breached it's banks. They stayed on that maunga for 27 hours, with no contact to the outside world.

All of Te Karaka has been impacted by this devastating flood, hundreds of people have been left without a home.

The marae in Te Karaka (Takipu) has also been flooded.
