This page is to support Ailien’s immunotherapy treatment for cervical cancer
Burnside, Christchurch
It is difficult to write this, because we are used to seeing many sad stories on social media, and when they don’t affect someone close to us, they feel distant. But everything changes when it happens to someone you love with all your heart
Fortunately, Ailien her son and I live in the same city, which brings us comfort. Ailien came to NZ with the dream of bringing her son and building a life together. Three years ago, she achieved that dream
Two years ago, in a routine check-up, a nurse found something unusual even though she had no symptoms: a tumour in her cervix. After a biopsy, we found out...it was cancer
As a family, we were completely broken. Fortunately, the NZ healthcare system acted quickly, and she began chemo and radiation. The tumour disappeared, giving us hope and happiness
However, recently we received very sad news: the cancer has returned and spread to nearby lymph nodes
A different treatment is Ailien’s only option, which is why funds are needed to cover Immunotherapy, which is not funded in NZ and is required as part of her cancer treatment
We have always tried to handle things on our own, but the cost is beyond what we can manage. That is why we are asking for help with humility
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a real difference. Her next appointment is on May 14, and we hope to start treatment as soon as possible
We are choosing not to share sad images, and instead focus on her strength, her smile and her life ahead
Thank you with all our heart
Ailien is my sister
The main purpose is to fund the 35 cycles of Pembrolizumab (Keytruda), an essential immunotherapy treatment for cancer, and to help cover any associated costs.
