That little boy still has hopes and dreams
Christchurch, Canterbury
This little boy was born in Wales 59 years ago, he grew up planning how to achieve his hopes and dreams for his future life. Moving to New Zealand was one of his plans. This part of the dream was realized in 2007 having been part of a recruitment drive by the New Zealand Department of Corrections. Cancer certainly wasn’t part of plans and dreams.
This little boy is me.
Unexpectedly in December 2020 four days before Christmas I was diagnosed with stage 4 Metastatic colon cancer.
To say it was a shock is an understatement. Along with the support of my wife, daughter and son, we have been on a journey of extreme emotions and learning this year.
Together we have learnt about my condition, my treatment, and about what options there are to manage the cancer moving forward. I've been receiving intensive treatment since January of this year, and one of the many challenges is learning about the right types of treatments available.
I love my family and friends and I want to be around them all and make memories for as long as possible. The treatment I am undertaking has proven to have great results but comes at a cost. Financially we are now eating into our life savings, and I want to be sure my family are secure should something happen to me.
I'm an incredibly proud man and asking for help doesn't come naturally to me. I am asking for your help, to allow me the opportunity to follow a personal treatment protocol* that could make a large difference in both the quantity and quality of my life.
At the same time this request isn't just for me but for all of us, by ensuring I can get the best possible treatment available. This experience has made me all the more aware that there are others in the same situation. My commitment moving forward is to ensure all those who need it, can get the same support they want and deserve. Be that through emotional support, access to treatment or financially.
That little boy still has hopes and dreams for his family and future in New Zealand.
I'd be incredibly grateful if you could support us and make that future a little more secure.
Thank you so much for reading this, Andrew.
* For those who would like to hear more detail about my treatment please see below:
We greatly appreciate the care I'm receiving from our Oncologist and his team at Christchurch Public Hospital. With their support we are exploring other treatments which are significantly helping cancer patients.
Early into my diagnosis I was introduced to the book "How to Starve Cancer" by Jane Mcllend. This book has over 50,000 followers worldwide who, like me are using her protocol and people are getting amazing results. Also the Care Oncology Clinic in Harley Street London protocol for off label drugs.
I urge anyone diagnosed with cancer or who knows someone with cancer to read this book and also to register with her online course where she explains every aspect of the book.
Alongside the protocols for the off label drugs and supplements I am undertaking daily hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and weekly intravenous vitamin C and Mistletoe injections.
It's inspiring to read about someone who personally has beaten cancer three times in a 25 year period by using this scientific well researched protocol.
Following this protocol means the treatment I am receiving is not funded through the public system, private health insurance, or ACC systems in New Zealand.
Unfortunately cancer does not fall under the realm of an injury! You are limited, I have found there are no avenues for fanancial assistance.
If you have any questions about my journey and the protocol I'm undertaking please don't hesitate to ask. I say this as I feel that as much as I would rather not be treading this cancer journey, if I can draw anything from the lessons I have learned to date I would be more than happy to share these learnings and be of assistance to others on the same or simular path.
Thanks again! Andrew and family.
