Rosies UP moment. One last chance with the balloon, lets make it count.
Auckland
Rosie is our pet dog. She has had to endure a very unpleasant past 54 day's drinking her meals as a result of a medical mishap during surgery on her knee. Rosie vomitted under anaesthetic to which the surgeon claims that she was not able to clear Rosies throat completely, she thought she had, this has caused a horrendous acid burn to the top and bottom of Rosies osephagus. To which she ended up with what they call Stricture, the scarring and tightening of the osephagus. So when she tries to eat she can't have solids as it would cause her to choke. Even with thinned meals it has been a nightmare. She struggles to swallow and then overcomes with saliva build up in her throat. It is heart breaking to watch. The surgery that she went into have originally, cost over $5000 then we were told that she couldn't be given any more medical assistance. That vet has not contacted us since not even with a sorry. We know things happen but it was like, where was her concern for Rosie. She has not even contacted us in regards to Rosie knee which started this whole nightmare.
We (Rosies mum and dad) were then sent to a Specialist, and Rosie has since had two more surgery's with no good result, as each time she needs to have a balloon dilated in her osephagus. Rosie has in the past two months gone from 17kgs to 13.3kgs. Her skin is just hanging off her. The Specialist costs has also risen so far $4500, and there doesn't seem to be much communication there either, just that i have not known what to do. I do however, know of a operation that can be done to help Rosie. It is one where a balloon is left in for up to six weeks and is inflated by her carers twice a day. The problem is the surgery can be arranged here in NZ but a specific part for the tube is in America and will cost around $800 American dollars to purchase. Then there is the added cost of the Specialist who has to perform the surgery. We would like to try and raise $10,000 to put toward this surgery for Rosie. Of cause with the help of the public. With huge Thanks and blessings.
The funds would be for surgery and after care. If target is exceeded i wouldn't mind setting up a foundation in Rosies name to help animals in shelters and for funding for people who cannot afford to pay for even the basics of animal care for their pets.
Rosie's page is being closed 14 June 2020
Rosie's mummy has decided that we will look after Rosie as best we can which means no more operations. There has been no real improvement in her condition so with the money raised by you kind donors we will put it towards buying food and any further check ups.
Thank you everyone for your support, from Rosie and her family.
