Frame Works is an art exhibition and auction that will raise funds for the Asylum Seekers Support Trust (ASST).
Auckland
What frames your life? Home, work, friendship, family.
Frame Works has invited over 90 New Zealand artists to express the framework of life.
Artists will transform a plain wooden 12x16in frame into a unique and desirable piece of art, representing home, belonging, community and making a contribution to society…our 'Frame Work' of life.
From the 22nd April 2017 these frames will be displayed in shop windows in a walkable trail around Auckland Britomart and High Street.
Art lovers, families and the community will be encouraged to find and choose their favourite pieces, with an APP and a map to help locate the artworks.
On 2nd May 2017, there will be an art sale of the frames in a gala event, by live and online auction,
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Asylum Seeker Support Trust (ASST), which works with people like you and me, whose framework of home is destroyed by political instability or war.
We help them to rebuild their framework. ASST provides emergency support for asylum seekers and their families as they seek to create a new life for themselves.
ASST provides basic human needs such as accommodation, food, accessing medical care, education for children and English language classes to people who are seeking protection in New Zealand while they go through the legal process of applying to have their refugee status recognised.
Approximately 350 people seek asylum in New Zealand each year, from many countries including Syria, Ethiopia, Pakistan.
This page is to raise funds to help us cover the cost of the event so that the maximum auction proceeds can be donated to ASST.
I am Treasurer of ASST and Project Co-ordinator for Frame Works.
Auckland Refugee Council Inc is our legal name but we are known as Asylum Seekers Support Trust (ASST).
