Please help housebound MS sufferer Kathryn gain access to the great outdoors that she loves.
Nelson / Tasman
Kathryn is 43 and has lived with progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since her mid 20's.
Six months ago she was able to stand with assistance. Now she is completely wheelchair bound.
Kathryn is being cared for by her partner, Grant. When she was more mobile, their greatest pleasure was tramping in the bush, and then going on road trips throughout the South Island so that Kathryn could still experience the remote New Zealand environment. This is no longer possible.
Kathryn doesn't have a long 'bucket list'. She just wants to be able to get outdoors amongst nature, but, for that, she needs a powered wheelchair that can cope with uneven terrain. She also needs a vehicle the wheelchair can fit into easily. Kathryn would love to go up The Cobb Valley; she would love to go fishing.
Kathryn's friends are trying to make that possible but we can't do it by ourselves and would be very grateful for your support. Please help this lovely, unassuming lady get out of the house and back into the beautiful landscapes that make her happy. All funds will go directly towards purchasing a powered, off road wheelchair and a suitable vehicle for Kathryn. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
Kathryn is a friend. She remains remarkably positive despite her increasing lack of mobility. I would love to help her enjoy the outdoors again.
Funds will be spent on a powered, off-road wheelchair and towards upgrading their very old vehicle (which is not wheelchair capable). If things don't go to plan the money will be used for equipment to improve Kathryn's quality of life.
