Something special is cooking in Napier - and we need your help to make it a reality.

The Food Buzz, initiated by The Barong Restaurant Indonesia, is more than just a food market. It’s a movement built on aroha, creativity, and connection. Every day, five to six local food trucks stationed at 23 Carlyle Street, Napier, gather to serve up delicious food. At the same time, Napier’s up-and-coming artists (from school age to adults) take the weekly stage to share their talent with the community.

What truly sets The Food Buzz apart is our commitment to giving back.

As the owners of The Barong Express food trailer, we aim to offer free meals to anyone in need regularly - no questions asked, no judgment, just kindness on a plate. Whether someone is sleeping rough or simply going through a tough time, they’ll always be welcomed with open arms and warm, nutritious food.

We’re creating a space where everyone belongs - where laughter, music, and generosity feed the soul just as much as the food feeds the body.

To take this kaupapa to the next level, we need your support. We’re seeking $40,000 to complete the project, including building a special trailer to sell our food and community-designed merchandise. Every hoodie, tote bag, or tee sold will help fund more free meals.
