Supporting Annabelle Yee to pursue full-time training in classical ballet at an elite institution.
Christchurch, Canterbury
As many pursuing a career in ballet will say, I am in love with the art form and its ability to bring such nuanced joy to both me as a performer and the audience who observes. I have been dancing since I was three years old, however In the latter half of 2021 I had to take a brief break from dancing due to health concerns, and the darkness I felt in this time just proved to me how integral a part of my life dance is.
As such, I have been able to start auditioning for full-time programs this year, and have just recently been accepted into Queensland Ballet academy, Queensland college of dance, Tanya Pearson Classical Academy and received a short-term scholarship to NZSD. In my hopes to pursue full-time training next year (as well as continuing to finish high school and apply for academic scholarships), I have found the need to search for external funding to financially support myself to get to Australia, and continue the auditioning process to overseas schools. As someone who doesn’t identify as looking like the ‘perfect ballerina’ I am fully aware of the challenges that come with this career path and struggles I may face. However, my passion for the art form drives me to break these stereotypical barriers and give it my all to succeed. I will no doubt continue my higher education in conjunction with dance to set myself up for a successful and secure future.
The money raised will go to my parents as I am under 18 and they are helping to support me in my pursuit.
Any money raised will go towards the costs associated with full-time tuition at an elite training institute in Sydney as well as any other opportunities that arise.
