This page was set up to help relieve some financial pressure for Donna through this difficult time. All proceeds go straight to Donna.
Matamata, Waikato
Our dear Friend Donna was referred for a colonoscopy at Waikato Hospital on the 7th October after noticing changes in her bowel.
Once Donna had the colonoscopy she was immediately told she has stage 4 bowel cancer. On further investigation it was found to have spread to her liver and lungs.
Donna was immediately put into hospital and had a operation to put a stent in her bowel so it worked better as the tumor was blocking quite a big section in her bowel. The operation was successful and she was released home. After two days at home Donna experienced excruciating pain and was told to go back to hospital. They found she had a infection and her bowel was blocked. After 7 nights in hospital she finally came home feeling a lot better.
Donna has started her chemotherapy today 28th October, 2x 23 hour bags and 1x 2 hour bags. Donna will be in hospital as a inpatient to have her chemotherapy administered in the hospital which takes 48 hours. When Donna has a port put in, which is another operation she will be able to have her chemotherapy as a outpatient and go home everyday after it. Donna will be re scanned and reassessed as to her next treatment plan.
If this chemotherapy does not produce good results they will change to another drug for chemotherapy.
This isn't the first time Donna has dealt with Cancer she received bad news back in July 2017 where she had breast cancer and had to have a single mastectomy.
Donna is our best friends who is loved by so many of us, has the best humor and a damn good chick🤍 together as friends we thought this page will help her so much financially. Melissa, Toni, Denise, Linda x
All proceeds raised for Donna will be a major help financially while she isnt able to work full time like she usually does. The money will be used to pay for day to day living costs, mortgage payments, raising her boys, treatment costs like travel etc.
Duckie's October update🦆 7 October 2022
Hi Everyone
Well it’s a year today that I was diagnosed and what a roller coaster it’s been for me. I’ve had 17 chemo treatments, 3 minor surgeries and a few stays in hospital. I not going to lie it’s been the hardest year of my entire life and for my boys 😢
Yes my tumour markers are down but I’m definitely not out of the woods by any means. Things have got better now that I manage my pain better now that’s for sure. I still have the bowel issues and not knowing when and how much laxatives to take to get things going. This is very frustrating because if I don’t take enough I get severe pain in my abdomen and need additional quick release morphine.
Thank you to my mum for coming over each time I have chemo and looking after me and my boys, my boys Matt, Jack, and Daniel for your unconditional love, my family, friends, the Matamata community and my work place Westpac for there continued support. To all of those wonderful people who have driven me to chemo, appts, surgeries or to A&E I can’t thank you all enough for taking the time out of your day. Without all of you I wouldn’t be able to cope. It certainly takes a weight off my shoulder that’s for sure.
I have my next CT scan on Monday 17th October to see how my things are going and my oncologist on 20th October. I’m really nervous this time since I had my little set back in August with my liver.
I will keep you all posted though.
Lots of love Duckie ❤️
