Funding an English Teacher at Shree Shisakhola School, Nepal

  • Nepal Fundraising Update

Thank you for your support to date and I thought I should update you on what has happened with your donations. Days before we went into lockdown, Country Village preschool held a bike a thon which all the children enjoyed and added to our fundraising. Nepal is still under strict lock down so we are holding the funds until schools open again and we will then forward them for the teacher. The majority of Nepalese are facing a very difficult time, being unable to work there is no income and they don't have government support or social services. This years was the big 2020 year of tourism in Nepal and the Covid crisis has hit very hard. We are sending donations (separate to our frundraising) to purchase rice and lentils which are the main food staples. I know there are many, many people in New Zealand needing support at the moment but if you feel you could help a Nepalese family with a small donation it will all add up and be most appreciated. Photo of Pasang Chutin in school uniform prior to lock down. Namaste and thank you

  • THANK YOU FROM PHIL

Phil has now recovered from his epic ride and expresses his thanks for your support.

"Made it. What an awesome 16 days it has been. Thanks so much for all the texts and the messages, the support has been overwhelming. I also wanted to say thanks for supporting the school. Your generosity is very much appreciated by us and the Nepalese families. Helping these children become more fluent in english will hopefully give them opportunities to continue their education and allow for better work prospects.

Fundraising will continue so please feel free to share the cause with anyone who may be interested. A little goes such a long way. Thanks"

Exciting news today, we have a new fundraiser. The children at Country Village preschool in Paerata are going to hold a bikeathon to raise funds for Shree Shisakhola school. Thank you to everyone at Country Village preschool and I will let you know once I have a date for this event.

Phil is currently resting in the middle of the Southern Alps at Makaroa. He has ridden 2608 km in 14 days - amazing! This is despite getting knocked off his bike a few days ago by a motor cyclist who came round a corner on the wrong side and did not stop to check Phil was ok. Photo is of one of the 'paths' Phil was riding a few days ago. Thank you for your support and please continue to support Phil on his last 392 kms, his legs must be weary now.

This is a photo of a group of young children from Shree Shisakhola school, they are who we are trying to help with a brighter future and these children are a reason why Phil is cycling his way down New Zealand. Have you been watching his progress? He is in the middle of the South Island on the Picton to Greymouth leg and almost at 2000 km! Amazing cycling consistently each day. Keep pedaling Phil. Thank you for all your kind donations and please share our page to help the futures of these children.

I can think of better ways of spending a birthday than sitting all day on a bike in this heat. But that is how Phil is celebrating his birthday. I can't believe the distance he has ridden already in three days. Thank you for supporting Shree Shisakhola School Phil and Happy Birthday! Send Phil a message of support to help keep his legs pedaling. This photo was taken on day one and is Phil's reflection in the sand on on Ninety Mile Beach
