Fundraise For A Second-hand Oboe

$2,671 of $3,000 goal
Given by 22 generous donors in around 6 months

My teacher thinks it is time for me to upgrade my instrument. I want fundraise to buy a second-hand oboe.

Waikato

My name is Alex, and I am 10 years old. I have been learning oboe for 3 years now. Currently, I am following Martin Lee, who is the Principal Cor Anglais of Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, to learn oboe. As the youngest player in the Youth Orchestra Waikato (YOW), I believe I have a gift at playing the oboe, and I really enjoy it. I am the oboe section leader in YOW, and also the Waikato Schools Symphonic Band (WSSB).

I won the First Prize in 2019 New Zealand Double Reed Society (NZDRS) Inaugural Oboe and Bassoon Competition (intermediate section), and Most Promising Oboist in 2020 Australia Double Reed Society (ADRS) Online Competition Winners (intermediate section).

At present I am using a plastic oboe. Martin says it is time for me to use a professional wooden oboe, especially for concert performances. A wooden oboe is very expensive. Martin suggested a second-hand well-tuned Marigaux 901 would cost $7500. I have been busking, and my family have given me some help, but I need to fundraise $3000 to buy it.

It's my father's account, and all funds raised will be given to me.

Use of funds

All the money raised will be used to buy the oboe.
