A fundraiser to help John and his family repay some of their debt arising from medical bills and related expenses during the covid pandemic
Marlborough
At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Philippines, two of John's loved ones became very sick, one after the other. In 2020 his grandmother became very ill, needing hospital care. At this time public hospitals were not coping with the volume of people who were sick, and many died while waiting in hospital foyer and hallways. Wanting to do everything to save her, John's family took their grandmother to a private hospital where she was admitted and confined for over a month, receiving treatment. But sadly, she succumbed to Covid-19 complications that same year. In 2021 John's father became very ill. The situation in public hospitals was even worse this time. Determined to do everything to save his father, John took him to a private hospital for treatment. The treatment was helpful at the beginning, but the complications from Covid-19 became unmanageable. John's father died of pneumonia the following year, 2022. He was only 56 years old. These couple of years were very difficult time for John's family. The loss was painful and deep. But in addition to that, these two private hospitalisations, and all their associations costs, left John's family with a massive debt, which will take many many years before they can repay it fully. John is the only breadwinner in the family; he carries the weight of this burden alone. He needs help.
I am John's friend and pastor in the church.
All the money will be spent on repaying debts and their interest.
Thank you 1 November 2024
The fundraiser for John Ferrer's family has now closed, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for generous support to this cause. The funds raised amounted to just over $2,000, and minus the 5% admin fee from Givealittle, John has received $1966 net, which is still a generous and much appreciated help for the Ferrer family. I have attached a photo of John's receipt of the money. Again, thank you for your generous support for this cause, and I pray the Lord would richly you in return.
