Help us fund Mama Rosie's lung cancer treatment and medications

Auckland

Last May 2019, Mama Rosie (Rosie Magyawi), 59 years old, was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.

She has been complaining about her neck since January this year but the X-rays and scans didn't reveal anything suspicious. She's regularly having therapies and follow-ups with little improvement to her condition. Late April, she was supposed to go to Oman to be with her eldest daughter. She was required an X-ray for the visa and after 3 inconclusive X-ray results, she was asked to do a CT scan. That’s when they found a mass in her left lung and suspected a metastasis on her lung nodules. Her doctor recommended for her to do a bone scan and found an irregularity on her 5th and 7th right ribs.

A biopsy was done in her left supraclavicular lymph node with a diagnosis of “Cell findings are consistent with metastatic carcinoma with focal high grade features.” Another biopsy was done on cervical lymph node with diagnosis of "Consistent with metastatic carcinoma, cervical lymph node".

It was a devastating news for the family that not only she has lung cancer, but it has already spread considering that she's not and never been a smoker. She felt that chemotherapy is not right for her and will only make her weaker. As she tested positive for EGFR mutation, the doctor prescribed a medication to be taken daily that will treat her non-small cell lung cancer as the first-line treatment. However, the cost of the medicine is very expensive at NZD 130 (PHP 4500) per tablet. She will also undergo an integrative cancer treatment for 5 weeks in Thailand. These treatments are designed to help her own body fight cancer. Her kids are helping gather the funding for her treatment in Thailand which will cost around NZD 81,000. She will undergo Immunotherapy (NK cell therapy with supportive treatments) which will be done in Verita Life clinic for 5 weeks. A personalized treatment plan has been created for her which targets the cancer cells and also focused to boost and strengthen her immune system to give her a safer option to overcome it, minimize side effects and regain her health. The treatments include but not limited to Local hyperthermia, Biologic, Metabolic, Herbal therapy, Immune therapy and support, Detoxification and personalized diet plan which consists of anti-cancer food.

Through all this, she's staying strong, consistently hoping and praying that she'll be able to fully recover.

This family desperately needs your financial help to cover Mama Rosie's medical costs. Her husband retired last year and no longer have the financial means to support her.

The goal of NZD 50,000 is to help cover some these costs for a year.
