A fundraiser for the ongoing costs of Pocket's care as she graduates from campus and moves into her new forever home
Wellington
After over a decade on campus, the staff of Level C, Block 9 at Massey Wellington have decided to rehome the beloved campus cat, Pocket. In late June 2025, Pocket sustained a bad injury on her leg and was taken to the vet. After an examination and blood tests, we discovered that also she has a disease called hyperthyroidism (unrelated to her injury). The good news is that with medication twice a day, the disease is very manageable and can be well controlled.
The staff who have cared for Pocket over the years have decided that the best thing for Pocket now, as she enters the later stages of her life, is to be moved to a quiet, loving home, where she can receive extra attention and care. As she gets older, and more susceptible to injury or illness, we feel it’s best to have her living with someone full time, so that she can be checked on regularly.
We have found Pocket a permanent, loving home with a staff member who knows her well and understands what a special and loved cat she is. We have put together this fundraiser for her new carers to use towards Pocket's medication (estimated to be $70-80 monthly), food and vet bills.
Please note, this fundraiser has been created and managed in a personal capacity by the staff from Level C, and is not associated or managed in any official capacity by Massey University or Te Tira Ahu Pae.
This page is created by staff who have been caring for Pocket over the past few years, and coordinating her rehoming. We are colleagues of her new carers.

Thank you for your donation towards Pocket's care! 21 August 2025
A big thank you to everyone who donated towards Pocket's ongoing care as she enters the next stage of her life. She's been settling in well at her new home and "rules the house like it's her kingdom." Pocket is being started on her medication to manage her hyperthyroidism, which your generous donations are helping fund. We'll continue to post the odd Pocket update on the Te Tira Ahu Pae Wellington Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/massey_wellington.tetiraahupae/
