Help support Paul (a blind runner) and his two guides complete the 2024 New York Marathon.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Paul Barclay is a member of the Christchurch Chapter of Achilles New Zealand. He has made the draw for the New York Marathon on Sunday 3 November 2024.
As a totally blind runner Paul needs guides to assist him to train for and compete in events. His two volunteer running guides for New York are Emma Crichton and Rosie Hay.
It is 14,651km from Christchurch to New York. Paul is going to run 146.51km in Hagley Park over the weekend of Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August 2024.
Those 146.51km are to promote awareness of Achilles New Zealand and to raise funds. The funds raised will be split between the costs of Emma and Rosie getting to and from New York to support Paul to run the marathon and Achilles New Zealand and the Christchurch Chapter.
The aim is to raise $14,651, ie, $1 per km between Christchurch and New York. That is $100 per km that Paul will run over those 2 days.
Please donate and let's get Paul to New York!
Achilles New Zealand is here to provide New Zealanders with disabilities the opportunity to participate alongside able-bodied athletes in local, national and international events. We're a volunteer run organisation with 10 chapters across Aotearoa.
Funds raised will go to support Paul to complete in the NY marathon. Any additional funds will be invested in supporting other athletes to compete in sport though Achilles NZ.
