Hello friends & community,

My name is Tessa & I’m hoping to raise funds to pay for Rātā’s surgery bills.

Rata was injured on September 27th while we were walking home from Waikuku beach. After the incident, Rata was shaking, unable to walk and had blood streaming down her leg.

The incident caused a deep muscular wound on her hind leg which required emergency treatment and staples. The vet said she was lucky her leg wasn’t broken, however she now needs X-Rays and surgery on her knee/s. Vet bills will be upward of $2,500.00, I have uploaded quotes and invoices below for transparency.

Rātā is a beautiful dog who is beloved by friends, family and many of my pottery students.

I am humbly reaching out to ask for donations as I have been off work myself with a spinal injury.

Rata is my dog and she will be the beneficiary. All funds raised will go to Chris (a friend of mine) and then to the Vet for Rata's treatments. Thank you. ❤️

Use of funds

All funds raised will go towards Rātā’s vet bills (Emergency treatment, X-Rays, surgery and required anti-anxiety and anti-inflammatory medications). Sadly she is severely traumatized, anxious and reactive.

Recovery ❤️‍🩹   8 December 2025

Hello friends,

Rātā is recovering slowly but surely from her surgery. She’s still on bed rest with a short 5 minute walk per day. She’s having lots of rest & back on her favourite bean bag.
