I am raising vital funds for the family of Poppy-Mai Barnard, to allow them to realise their dream to establish Poppy's Field.
Auckland
Poppy-Mai, 17 months, has been diagnosed with a progressive malignant rhabdoid tumour, a rare and aggressive form of paediatric cancer. Four weeks ago, she was given just days to live yet the little warrior is still fighting and proving doctors wrong. In her honour, her parents plan to establish Poppy's Field, a sanctuary for sick children and their families in need of respite. To show our support, my sister, Hayley, and I, will cut no less than 17cm of our hair which will be donated to the Little Princess Trust in the UK. They will then transform the hair into beautiful wigs for children who have lost their own hair to cancer. All of the funds raised in sponsorship will go to Poppy-Mai's family to to create Poppy's Field. Once our project closes, I will make an online donation to Poppy-Mais Go Fund Me page that her dad has set up. Then the funds will go straight from my account to theirs.
Every day is a battle to survive for Poppy-Mai and she does it with grace, determination, courage and a beautiful big smile. No family should have to go through what the Barnard family is going through. They have kindly let thousands of people follow Poppy-Mai's story on Facebook and I feel this is the least I can do to show my support. We are #strongertogether.
Points to note: I have been given permission from Andy and Sammi Barnard to do this fundraiser;
Before and after photos (and hopefully video) will be posted to The Journal of Poppy-Mai https://www.facebook.com/groups/480336455492050/?fref=nf , as well as our certificate from the Little Princess Trust (takes around six weeks to receive).
Thank You 4 May 2016
Hayley and I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has kindly donated to our cause. The amount raised so far is outstanding and it is thanks to each and every one of you.
Sadly, Poppy-Mai passed away on 3/5/16 so we are more determined than ever to help Poppy's Field become a reality, a legacy that will be spoken about for generations.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you xx
