My name is Shriya Naidu and I am currently studying my Masters in Architecture at the University of Auckland. Having played cricket since the age of 14, it has been a dream of mine to represent New Zealand in a World Cup.

Determined to reach my goal, I have trained hard and so far; I have been selected for the Auckland Hearts Winter Training Squad and have been a valuable part of the U21 Auckland Cricket Team for the past 6 years. With Indoor Cricket, I have been selected for the Northern Districts Women’s team and represented New Zealand in the junior Indoor Cricket World Cup Team 2012 held in South Africa where we placed third.

Today, my dream has come true! The selection process was extremely competitive but with my hard work and determination, I am extremely fortunate to be selected with 12 other women to represent New Zealand in the World Cup held in Dubai in September this year. I am very humbled to have been given this opportunity to represent my country and I cannot wait to share my experiences with you all!

Unfortunately, the cost for me to partake in this incredible opportunity is $6000 and the sport is not subsidised. This money goes directly to the NZ Indoor Cricket Association to cover my flights, accommodation, living costs and other fees involved so that I can represent New Zealand in this incredible opportunity.
