Gabi had her spleen removed in a life or death situation in the wee hours of the morning, fundraising to cover surgery cost
Wellington
Last night, Gabi couldn't get comfortable, after a wee check we found that she had an issue with her tummy, we called the after vets who said to bring her in.
When we arrived, she had an xray and they found some unusual results, but mainly that her stomach was ok and nothing needed to be done. But they kept her in to monitor her. Roughly 2 hours later, I received a phone call, after coming home, to say that she had gotten worse and that they would need to operate to rotate her stomach, or she was going to die.
After pulling my wife out of a deep sleep, we agreed that we'd go for surgery, rather than put her to sleep, as we're avid dog lovers and she's part of the family, 6 hours earlier, she had been a happy mobile dog.
They put her under and opened her up, the spleen was "angry" and was removed, along with as much infected tissue has was possible, they rotated her stomach and sutured it to the body wall to stop it from turning again. I received another phone call at 5:30 am, after being asleep for about 20 minutes (I couldn't sleep earlier, as I was in a state of worry, waiting for a call) to hear that she'd made it through and that I could pick her up at 7:30am to go to our normal vets.
The goal shown here covers the cost of surgery, pre and post op care along with more tests and medication.
A few friends then suggested we could fund raise to cover some of the cost of surgery. So here we are.
I am the owner of Gabi, she was our first dog after purchasing a house, as well as a 1 year wedding anniversary gift to ourselves.
Funds will go towards paying off the surgery costs.
