At 57 years, my Uncle lost his job and is starting his life from the ground up. I need your help in flying to Argentina, and setting him up
Auckland
Hello, and thank you for stopping by my page - I truly appreciate it.
My family and I are originally from Argentina, and came to New Zealand 15 years ago following a big economic crisis. Since then, life in Argentina hasn't been easy, and the portion of my family remaining there does their best to make it by.
One person in my family still remaining in Argentina is my uncle, Gabriel, who, to put it simply, did not get handed the life he deserves. He was working as a taxi driver for a few years, but then failed the psychophysical exam required for the job. As a consequence, he was not able to feed or properly look after himself, and was since taken into a psychiatric hospital for care.
Despite how unwell he is, he will be released from hospital this coming Thursday (23/03/17), and I would love nothing more than to fly back home and set him up with the solid foundations that he needs to re-build his life from the ground up (he's lost everything following his job loss and his possessions will be taken to repay his debts).
I'm not the type of person that tends to reach out for help even in difficult situations. So, doing this is something that I wouldn't do unless it was critical. Gabriel, my uncle, is the same and for the first time since I've known him, he's asked for help.
I want to visit him (it's been 10 years since the last time), and help him on the road to recovery. In Argentina, people who cannot work due to physical or psychological illnesses can apply to retire early and start receiving a pension early. We've begun this process for Gabriel, however just about anything bureaucratic in Argentina takes months! Therefore, this fundraiser is not only for a portion of my flights back home, but to maintain my uncle while we wait for his pension to start.
Thank you once again for reading through, and for any help that you might be able to offer. I hope you and your family have a wonderful day :)!
I'm involved in the financial care of my uncle because most of my immediate family is either unemployed or lives in poverty.
1. Pay for part of my flights back home (I don't have enough in savings)
2. Pay for his rent and food while his pension in Argentina goes through the bureaucratic loops it needs to go through
3. Give him a little bit of money let over so that he can rest easy and recover
