It’s hard to admit how much this has affected me, but I’m ready to take small steps toward healing with these treatments.
Auckland
Three years ago, just weeks after giving birth to my youngest daughter, I slipped a disc in my Lumbar Spine (Lower back). The pain spread through my leg, leaving me chair-bound and struggling just to care for my baby. Exhausted, in constant pain, and barely sleeping, I fell into postnatal depression. My only goal each day was simply to get out of bed and feed her.
The discectomy eased some of the pain, but the damage to my sciatic nerve changed the way I walk. Along with that came embarrassment, anxiety, and the fear of being seen.
But now it’s time to change. Time to rebuild my confidence, strengthen my body, and take back my life. I’m ready to try something new — the NEUBIE Machine — even if it’s not ACC approved. This is the first step forward.
Treatments must be scheduled within seven days of each other, at a cost of $150 per session, with a goal of 10 sessions.
The NEUBIE machine is an electrical stimulation device used in physical therapy and neuromuscular re-education to identify and correct muscle dysfunction. It works by sending unique electrical pulses to stimulate the nervous system, improve muscle contraction, blood flow, and muscle memory, which helps accelerate healing and restore movement and strength. The treatment is used for rehabilitation from injuries and surgeries, managing chronic pain, and improving function in patients with neurological conditions.
These funds will go directly toward my treatments, which I’ll need to continue weekly once I begin. My goal is to walk normally again, rebuild confidence, strengthen the muscles that have been dormant, and begin healing from the trauma.
