Gaming upgrades for Ronald McDonald Christchurch kids/teenager room
Christchurch, Canterbury
Hi my name is Jack I’m 13 years old and in October 2025 I was diagnosed with leukaemia.
I’m from Southland, where I love playing rugby, hunting, fishing and cooking a mean steak on the BBQ.
Because of my treatment at Christchurch hospital my family and I spend alot of my time away from home.we are very lucky to be able to stay at Ronald McDonald house Christchurch. It really is a home away from home and helps make a tough situation a little bit easier.
Going from being a very active kid to having some pretty rough days has been a big change.one of the cool things I discovered at Ronald McDonald house was the gaming and technology room.It gave me something fun to do when I wasn’t feeling well enough to be outside.
As a teenager, when you can’t be down at the river with a fishing rod in your hand, out in the bush chasing pigs and deer, or scoring tries on the rugby field with your mates, it’s awesome to be able to jump on a game for a while. My favourite was the car racing game with the steering wheel, pedals and a racing seat. It made you feel like a real rally driver. Sadly it has recently stopped working.
That’s why I’m fundraising for the gaming room at Ronald McDonald house Christchurch.
I’d love to help upgrade the equipment so kids and teenagers staying there can have fun, escape from treatment for a while, and experience what it’s like to be a rally car driver too.
Thanks for your support
Jack
