Canterbury

SGTC is a registered trust and a registered charity. We are essentially a Hindu based organization, but are very inclusive and we have members from other religions. We consider Hinduism as a "Way of Life" and less a religion. We plan to build South Island's first non-partisan Hindu temple that will cater for everyone, regardless of race, creed or religion.

We also plan to fund charities involving, primarily the youth of all religions and race.

Please donate what you can truly afford.

The bulk of the money will be used to purchase a permanent place for worship and social events in aid of charity.

About us

We are a small but energised and much-focused group in Christchurch, who passionately think that the time has finally come for a Ganesha Temple in Christchurch. We believe that in the greater scheme of things, everything happens only when it’s ready to happen. The time is NOW.

Please join us to establish the temple in Christchurch. We are not delusional and think that it will be an easy task. It will be a trying endeavour, but with God’s grace, we will prevail.

The vision to have a temple was to be able to unite the community and provide a place to worship, learn and teach ourselves and our children about the religion and our various languages and celebrate our festivals together as a big family.

Use of funds

For now, 80% of all receipts will be kept in a building account to purchase a permanent place for worship and social events in aid of charity, and 20% for charitable purposes.

Our operations are financed by devotees and well-wishers.
