Fundraising for Sri Ganesha Trust Christchurch

$471 donated
Given by 10 generous donors in around 7 months

The Sri Ganesha Temple Christchurch is a place to worship, conduct religious activities, tradition and culture.

OUR SRI GANESHA TEMPLE CHRISTCHURCH RENOVATIONS ARE UNDERWAY!

With Lord Ganesha's blessings and all your great support for the past 4 years, it is our pleasure to announce that we have secured a property for the temple.

The Sri Ganesha Trust Christchurch has been instrumental in bringing the community to promote and enhance pride in our religion and culture for the present and future generations.

Over the last four years, poojas have been conducted in community centres and members had to carry all the set-ups and idols for every pooja. Now the temple premise will have all the idols permanently installed, making it easier for devotees just to come and join the prayer ceremonies.

Having a permanent temple premise will also help the Trust conduct and facilitate Hindu

marriages, fulfilment of vows and hosting cultural festivals according to the Hindu scriptures and rites.

We are looking to raise money for the renovation. Your donation of any amount would be a great help toward reaching our goal.

The summary of the renovation costs is as follows:

- Builders cost for labour, materials and structural strengthening - $3,328.68

- Electrician removing and relocating the circuit board - $5,000.00

- Plumbing labour installing the toilets and basins - $1,000.00

- Plumbing materials - $1,244.15

- Flooring materials and installation - $8,997.00

Thank you in advance for your contribution. Your donation will go towards the renovation works for Sri Ganesha Temple Christchurch.

The Inauguration  16 December 2022

The inauguration of the premises began on the 11th of December, 2022 at 6 am with Vasthushanthi pooja, followed by, Puniyajanam, Lakshmi pooja, and Ganapathy homa/havan. These were followed by abhishekam, alankaram and maha deepam. Devotees performed bhajans and sang Thevaram and other devotional songs and performed bharathanatiyam dance performances.

It is now the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Since the current property at Bishopdale is not a purpose build structure for a Hindu temple, it will be used as a launch pad to purchase a piece of land and build a temple. The road ahead is even more challenging and arduous than the one we came along with because of the cost involved and the time and commitment in building and operating a temple and passing it on to the next generation. The management team are aware of the challenges ahead and hopeful that the general public and community, in particular, will support the endeavour and help make it a reality one day soon. Finally, we would like to quote the famous Maōri proverb Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini. Success is not the work of an individual but the work of many.

Together we will achieve our dream!

Om Gan Ganapathe Namaha!
