Gingernut went in for her enucleation surgery on December 9th and has recovered so well! Thank you to the expert team at Pakuranga Vets for taking such wonderful care of G-Nut.
Clinical Examination:
1 - Gingernut - minimal tear production, severe upperlid agenersis, anterior segment dysgenersis - poor vision (will need significant surgery and long term therapy - bilateral enulceation would be a reasonable option)
2 - Black drops - moderate upper lid agenesis - will likely need cyrosurgery as the most minimal procedure + lubricants
3 - Ginger - mild bilateral upper lid distichiasis (slight agenersis) - may need cryo or similar to address the distichiasis - would start lubrication
4 - Smudge - also moderate lid agenesis - will likely need at least cryosurgery and lubricants
Comments - all lesions were bilateral - Gingernut being the most severely affected. euth / bilateral enucleation should be considered, all others should cope well with cryosurgery to minimise the associated trichiasis - lubricants will also help (viscotears / genteal) - usual discounted cost for cryo would be 6-800 per patient
