Gary requires assistance to cover a Zimbabwe Medical Aid shortfall of NZ $3750- Gary is quadriplegc with significant issues.
Auckland
For those who don’t know me, my name is Gary Bell. I’m 49yrs old.
I went to Churchill Boys high school in Harare, Zimbabwe. I then worked for Geoff Cox in Nyanga as an outward bound instructor for 3 years. After that I started work for a company as an formwork draftsperson. During this time I attended Bulawayo Polytechnic to qualify as a construction site supervisor.
From the 1995 – 1991 I played rugby for Old Georgeons Rugby club. Starting as a full back to for the 3rd team, then to wing, centre, open side flanker and finally ending up as a loose head prop.
Whilst playing for Mashonaland in Black & White tournament a rugby injury left me quadriplegic C5 – C6 Level.
Through the years I’ve plenty of ups and downs, working at companies, all of which as a drafts person. I am now working for a company selling Apple products e.g. iphones etc. Canon products, and my baby, sales and training of an Architectural programme. In April this year after quite a few tests etc. it was decided to take out one of my kidneys.
After a spell in hospital I was sent home. Unfortunately I came home with dreaded pressure sores. Then 10 days after leaving the hospital I had the staples removed from my kidney op. That night the wound popped open and so now it had to heal using dressings etc. Which meant more time on the bed at home.
I have had a lady coming in twice a week since then till now to change dressings on the pressure sores.
And now this has worked up a shortfall amount of $2500.00 (NZ $3750) which I’m struggling to pay. It would be good if I could raise anything extra that will be held in my Gary Bell trust to assist me with future expenses.
And I’m appealing for any assistance to help me pay the bill off.
Gary Bell is a dear friend of mine who lives in Zimbabwe. He has no family left to assist him and has asked me to help raise funds for his plight.
The economic meltdown, due to despotic dictator running the country, makes outside assistance a necessity to survive.
A little still to go. 13 October 2016
We are almost at the goal. The economic situation in Zimbabwe is worsening rapidly and we may have to request the fundraiser be curtailed. Please help us reach our target quickly.
