Waikato

Gemma Major has been invited to attend the 14th Aspiring Leaders' Forum, hosted in Wellington on 27-30 June 2019. The Aspiring Leaders’ Forum is an annual event that brings together a diverse group of committed and courageous young leaders from across Aotearoa New Zealand. Guided by facilitators and esteemed national leaders, selected young people will discuss leadership through a carefully articulated and varied four-day programme.

All nominated delegates and facilitators are required to raise funds towards their accommodation, meals and travel expenses. As a previous delegate of the Aspiring Leaders' Forum in 2012, I am coordinating the fundraising efforts to cover Gemma's expenses, as I believe she will find the excellent four-day programme to be extremely beneficial, along with the opportunity to meet up with other aspiring leaders across the country.

About Gemma:

Gemma is passionate about the potential young people have to change the world, and through her work explores the question "how might we empower young people to unleash their true potential, whilst addressing their greatest challenges?" She is the Co-founder of Seed Waikato, a start-up social enterprise focused on improving the wellbeing of millennials, which currently runs empowering events and workshops, and is piloting a digital education programme to develop soft skills like resilience and confidence. She is a Youth Advisor to Philanthropy New Zealand, exploring how to create greater diversity and inclusion in philanthropy across Aotearoa.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
