Geneva is out of hospital and being cared for by hospice and my loved ones
17 October 2023I made it out of hospital! It was pretty touch and go for a bit there but luckily I’m now getting settled at home under the care of hospice, my wonderful husband and my closest family and friends.
The latest hospital visit informed us that the cancer has spread to the pericardium (the lining around my heart) which accumulated as a cancerous fluid build up. Essentially the cancer was crushing my heart so it had to be drained. 480mL was drained and although it was a difficult and painful experience, I’m feeling better now that it’s out. This will start to build up again but we’re hoping it will take some time before it’s back at the stage of needing another drain.
We really appreciate all the love and support we’ve been given. The abundance of flowers and meals really have made a difference, and we appreciate all the little things that are helping us on this journey.
Thank you to everyone who had donated to our page, which has eased the pressure off basic needs and enabled James to take some time off work to be there for me when I need it the most.
We appreciate your continued support in the form of loving thoughts sent to us instead of messages.
At this stage, it’s hard to predict just how long I have left, so we’re doing our best to make the most of the days we’ve got.
Here’s some photos from our park adventure yesterday, where James wheeled me up the top of one tree hill and all the way around just so I could see the cherry blossoms 🌸🤍
