One minute you’re running a half marathon and feeling on top of the world. The next minute, your world turns upside down with a shock cancer diagnosis...

In October 2022, Genevieve was diagnosed with malignant melanoma after finding a metastatic lump in her neck. She has had surgery and will soon commence radiation treatment.

To have the best chance of fighting this disease, Gen also needs immunotherapy treatment (Keytruda). This treatment, for her, isn’t funded in New Zealand and will cost at least $65,000. Gen has bravely crossed so many hurdles already, and we remain positive and optimistic that with this treatment, she will continue to amaze us all.

Our beautiful Gen is a gentle, generous, and caring soul – with a cheeky sense of humour. Married to her teenage sweetheart Dan, she is devoted to their two boys, Rafe (nine) and Ned (six). Gen is a passionate and talented painting conservator at Auckland Art Gallery. She is also a keen runner and can often be found walking her beloved beagle, Scout.

Gen is adored by Dan and her boys, me (her sister, Emily), her mum and dad (Alison and Tom), and her extended family and friends. I know that many people want to help her through this.
