Get Bushra back home from Iran

    Hi again

    Bushra and Nada are back home in Wellington after 2 weeks in quarantine in Auckland. Nada says it was pretty boring but that they were very well looked after. Janene and I just had a video chat with them and their smiles say it all. They are SO HAPPY to be back. Sahra said, "I could not have done this without all you guys helping. Thank you all SO MUCH".

    They are chilling out at home. What do they want to do today? "Go to McDonalds!"

    We set out to collect $8,450 and you generously gave $8,690! We collected $287 in excess of what was needed to get them home. This will be given to the Red Cross Refugee service, as promised in our appeal.

    This is the last update for awhile. St Hilda's Island Bay will probably put on a welcoming home party when we are allowed to meet publically again. We'll send you an invite when that happens!

  • Coming home soon and update to payee details

    Bushra and Nada are curently at the Rydges Hotel in the Auckland CBD until 2 May when they will be allowed to return home to Wellington. All expoenses for this are picked up by the Government. Thanks Jacinda!

    Originally the payee (person who gets and distributes the funds) was to be Sahra however the team has decided that it will be easier to pay into an account for Bushra, that I have set up. Once the fuinds are paid out I will then pay out those that paid the bills for us. Givealittle have access to copies of all invoices, receipts and payments..

    Bushra and Nada arrived in Auckland early this morning and were taken to their quarantine hotel where they will be living for 14 days. Sahra has talked with them and they are very relieved to be home but very jetlagged.

    If you need an awesome Travel Broker then Zaheda Davies is your woman. She's been in the business 35+ years and knows her way around all the airlines' systems.

    Zaheda organises all my travel. When you book on-line yourself and everything goes wrong you lose your money. When you use Zaheda she sorts it out for you.

  • Almost home!

    Bushra and Nada have now left Qatar having rested at the transit lounge hotel thanks to your generosity.

    Right now the are over the Indian Ocean and will touch down in Auckland at 4.36 am on Saturday. They'll be greeted by customs officers and others who will take them to a quarantien hotel where they will stay for 14 days before getting another flight home to Wellington.

    We'll try and get some photos and video of them in Auckland for you.

  • They are in the air!

    At 0443 Iran time Bushra and Nada left Tehran bound for Doha in Qatar. By the time they get there they will be exhausted from the journey to get to Tehran and lots of waiting around. We have organised, thanks to your generous donation, a hotel room for the 21 hours they are in transit. They should be able to shower and sleep.

    We still need around $900 so if you could repost the link again we would be very greatful.

    Hi everyone,

    Just want to say a big thanks to all for your great supports. I won't forget how we made a roaring river from droplets of love.

    Special thanks to:

    - Kate Nicol-Williams and TVNZ team for their great report on Bushra, Nada and Sahra's story.

    - Jonathan Cutts, for his exemplary work in creating this Givealittle page, managing the whole trip plan and spending so much time on this campaign. Jonathan is a leader at St Hilda’s church in Island Bay in Wellington. Bushra cleans the church buildings 2 hours a week. Thanks too for St Hilda’s underwriting the project until Givealittle pays out.

    - My friends in Tehran/Iran , Esan Rohani and Alireza Jebelli for the great remote logistic helps they provided. My hats off to them!

    - Here in Aoteroa New Zealand to all Iranians who heard the story and their great hearts proved why no one should feel being left alone in Iran even if 15000 Km away from their home.

    - And to those lovely but yet unknown Iranians in Isfahan/Iran who Bushra and Nada may be able to name and tell us how they rushed to help them there.

    Iran is a very beautiful country. With great people. Not extraordinary people, but as great as you would find in any country. Humanity does not vary from nation to nation. From city to city. Food does though, especially when you talk about Iran lol. Sometimes it's just hard to hear the pure voice of people's greatness and generosity.

    I'm very honoured to be a small ring in this love chain we made above the oceans to get Bushra and Nada back home.

    Wish them a very safe trip!

    Good afternoon,

    Just want to thank everyone who has supported me and my little family through this hard time. My mother and sister are so excited that they can finally come back home.   • The countdown begins

    At around 11.30 pm tonight (Wednesday) NZ time Bushra and Nada will be picked up and taken the 446 km to Tehran where they will connect with the Qatar flight that leaves at 4.40 am Iran time.

    They fly for 2 hours to Doha, Qatar and then wait 21 hours for the flight to Auckland. We are currently arranging a room and food at a hotel in the transit lounge. All the airport shops and food outletsa are shut.

    Then they fly Doha to Aiuckland. The flight takes 16 hrs 40 minutes.

    We still need further funds so could you please help us by posting the Givealittle link again for us?

  • Bushra update

    We have talked to the Government Covid19 response team and they have informed us that we do not need to pay for Bushra and Nada's accomodation in Auckland. We had allowed spending money for food etc. for the 21 hr layover in Doha but all shops and eating places are shut.

    Thank you again for your support. As of 3.20 Tuesday we have raised $3,646.
