Results from India
23 April 2019Dear Donors,
Well what an experience it has been. Clay has returned from India with great news and has formed very solid friendships with Dr Thomas and other medical professionals he has seen.
The Hussle and bustle of Kochin was an eye opener as was the difference between wealth and poverty.
The staff at the hospital made Clay very welcome and their diagnostic equipment is state of the art. CT scans revealed things that the doctors here could not see. Clay underwent testing in several different areas and forms.
The good news is that there is :
1.No deterioration of the pelvic bone. It had been thought that the tumour had eaten away some of this bone and could result in severely weakened strength in that area.
2. The tumour is not cancerous but fibrous.
3. Clay does have a prostrate problem that can be resolved. Earlier it was thought that the tumour was putting pressure on the same area.
4. Dr Thomas recommended treatment by way of injections that last 1 -2 years rather than surgery. Clay will have those injections here in New Zealand as well and start on alternative treatments for Prostrate.
All in all it is a fabulous result. Clay now has the opportunity to resume work when he feels strong enough. It will take several weeks to ween himself off the opiates that were the only way to alleviate the pain previously. These have terrible side effects and it was hard to distinguish between the problem and the cure.
Clay has the opportunity to return to India with other people who may wish to seek Dr Thomas’s advice, as a way to repay the opportunity you all have given him.
Thank you so much, this would not have been possible without the donations.
