***Update December 18th
Clay has been receiving treatment from a Doctor providing acupuncture for his pain and Chinese Medicine to shrink the tumour, which has been successful for other patients in the past. We have decided to try this for 3 months. By mid January we will know if this treatment has had any positive effect and will then make a decision to continue with it or to focus on surgery in India. Clay has personally paid $2000 for three months of treatment and if the treatment is successful he will continue with it and use your donated funds for this purpose. The purpose of this page is to free him from pain so that he can once again live a normal life, we hope that you understand why we have chosen a change of direction,as a less invasive solution.
UPDATE – UPDATE - UPDATE

Firstly, thank you so very much for your generous donations. Clay is unable to work so cannot pay for the surgery himself.
Clay has been investigating alternative methods of pain relief to carry him through until his surgery.
Acupuncture has been successful in reducing his pain ratio from 9/10 to 5/10.
The gentleman he is seeing is also advising a three-month treatment of Chinese medicine that could reduce the size of the tumour. This would be beneficial to the success of the surgery.
We are still looking at surgery in the near future and will keep you posted on the success of the treatment he is currently receiving.
Thank you again, your generosity humbles us.

5 years ago this time, I was a active heathy 34 year old Kiwi with a adventurous colourful life. That was all to change when a MRI presented a tumour on my spine that is unable to be operated on in my own country.
The likelihood of this tumour growing bigger, leaving me paralysed is highly likely. Leaving me with fears and tears.
After 5 years of searching for doctors that are willing to operate, I have found a well established doctor in India that is interested in making my life better, by possibly removing this Tumour.
He wants me to urgently travel to Cochin, Kerala India for testing and surgery prep.
Unfortunately though with everything said, after being sick for so long, I have lost everything. From my home and anything in between.
Your help and support would mean the world to me and to those around me. The funds raised will be covering Medical expenses, flights, accommodation and day to day living.
Medical expenses, flights, accommodation and day to day living while in India.
Results from India 23 April 2019
Dear Donors,
Well what an experience it has been. Clay has returned from India with great news and has formed very solid friendships with Dr Thomas and other medical professionals he has seen.
The Hussle and bustle of Kochin was an eye opener as was the difference between wealth and poverty.
The staff at the hospital made Clay very welcome and their diagnostic equipment is state of the art. CT scans revealed things that the doctors here could not see. Clay underwent testing in several different areas and forms.
The good news is that there is :
1.No deterioration of the pelvic bone. It had been thought that the tumour had eaten away some of this bone and could result in severely weakened strength in that area.
2. The tumour is not cancerous but fibrous.
3. Clay does have a prostrate problem that can be resolved. Earlier it was thought that the tumour was putting pressure on the same area.
4. Dr Thomas recommended treatment by way of injections that last 1 -2 years rather than surgery. Clay will have those injections here in New Zealand as well and start on alternative treatments for Prostrate.
All in all it is a fabulous result. Clay now has the opportunity to resume work when he feels strong enough. It will take several weeks to ween himself off the opiates that were the only way to alleviate the pain previously. These have terrible side effects and it was hard to distinguish between the problem and the cure.
Clay has the opportunity to return to India with other people who may wish to seek Dr Thomas’s advice, as a way to repay the opportunity you all have given him.
Thank you so much, this would not have been possible without the donations.
