Help get Darrius to Bangkok, Thailand to represent NZ with the U17 Aotearoa Māori Poirewa - NZ Māori Volleyball team.
Napier, Hawke's Bay
Tēnā koutou katoa,
Darrius is off to Thailand in August as a national Māori volleyball representative with hopes of an oversea scholarship and professional career in one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.
Darrius found volleyball late 2021 and hasn't looked back since. He started at the end of his first year of high school, he played with the Junior A team and represented Hawkes Bay U15, winning the national IPC title that year. He then went on and participate in a National Volleyball camp held by Volleyball New Zealand in Hamilton. This further increased his passion for the game and hunger to become a better volleyball player.
From his first year as a player, he has consistently proven himself to be an invaluable asset to any team, showcasing his talent in numerous regional and national events. Notably, he has officiated a division 2 national final and eagerly trains alongside fellow members of his local volleyball club, AVA. Furthermore, he remains devoted to aiding others in their development within the sport.
The next journey to Thailand will help provide another perspective on training and professional volleyball life, while also providing an opportunity to experience a different culture and fortify his own.
Any support, regardless of its size, is deeply appreciated. Each and every donation will be utilized to help Darrius fulfill his dream of representing his country and culture.
Ngā mihi
