Help us get our friend Jacob who is representing NZ to realise his dream and compete in his Power Chair Football Tournament in Australia!
Bay of Plenty
Our friend Jacob Lane is 16 years old, a year 12 student at Trident High School in Whakatane. He is part of the Bay of Plenty Power Chair Football Club and has recently competed in a tournament in Taupo. He played his absolute best and was selected for the under 21 New Zealand team. The selected team is heading over to Sydney in October 2019 to compete in the Tri Series at Olympic Park. We are currently seeking sponsorship and donations to get Jacob and his family to the tournament.
Jacob has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which confines him to a wheelchair. He has been playing Power Chair Football for 4 years now and last year successfully fundraised for a specialised Power Chair Football wheelchair, which has taken his game to a new level where he is now playing at a professional level. It is Jacob's dream, and our dream to watch our mate succeed in his dream, so we are serious about getting him to Australia.
The costs that Jacob needs to cover to get to the tournament total over $14,000.00. The costs that Jacob needs to cover are: court fees for the tournament, hireage of specialised mobility equipment, accommodation, airfares, airport and venue transfers and food costs for him, his parents and his sister - his fierce supporters.
We - Jacob's best mates, Zac and Matthys, are so stoked to have been gifted money from ASB Good as Gold which means we can now travel with him and support him in the way we do in his national tournaments. We are though, worried that despite us having been gifted some money for our own travel, Jacob does not yet have the funding to get him and his family, who he needs for help with his day to day care, to Australia.
Help us to get Jacob to Australia to make Trident, Whakatane and New Zealand proud.
I and Matthys Wessels are Jacob's best friends and we want to enable Jacob to have the opportunity to realise one of his life goals- to compete at National level in his sport - Power Chair Football where he has made the NZ under 21 Team and set to play in October in Sydney.
Court fees for the tournament, hireage of specialised mobility equipment, accommodation, airfares, airport and venue transfers and food costs for him, his parents and his sister - his fierce supporters - $14,000.00 total.
