Millie has epilepsy and we are fundraising to get her a seizure watch that will alert us when she is having a seizure in bed.
Marlborough
As most of you will know, Millie was born 16 weeks early at 670g (1lb 7o). For the first 7 or so years she never had any complications from the extreme prematurity, but almost 3 years ago she started having seizures.
Most of Millie's seizures are in her hands, arms and face, a type of epilepsy called Benign Rolandic Epilepsy. These seizures are triggered by stress, eye strain and tiredness. A few weeks ago she had a large full body seizure that she ended up in hospital for. We were lucky she was able to get herself out of bed during this seizure and come find us in the lounge. But she and us are worried about the next seizure, and whether she can get herself out of bed and get to us.
We have found a watch made in the United States that can send an alert to a cellphone app as soon as it detects the shaking of her arm/hand, however the watch is $448.00 and an additional $235.00 for the first years subscription for the alerts. The watch app is also compatible for iPhones 6 and up, which means I will need to upgrade to a second hand iPhone 6.
We are asking for help raising funds to get Millie this watch. Millie has had a rough year, she has developed a lazy eye which the optometrist is helping to try and correct, she has been diagnosed with the skin condition vitiligo and underwent an ablation to fix her heart condition last November. Having this watch will mean that she does not need to stress and have anxiety each night when she goes to bed, worrying whether she will have a seizure or not.
Millie is my 9 year old daughter and I am raising funds for a seizure watch for her
All money raised will go towards the seizure watch, the yearly subscription fee and the phone which is needed to work with the app.
