Nelson teens want to represent Aotearoa in an International STEM competition in the States. Can you help get them there?
Nelson / Tasman
Caitlin and fellow classmate Thorben (both 15) are heading to Washington D.C. to take part in an International Science and Engineering competition in June.
They designed and built a submersible Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and are the national 'AquaBots' champions for their age group. Both attend Waimea College in Richmond.
The international competition, held at the University of Maryland, involves:
* Designing and building a submersible Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)
* Piloting the ROV through a series of underwater challenges
* In-person presentation explaining their engineering design choices
* Creating a video outlining the team and their design principles
* Creating an in-depth technical design report
You can learn more about the international SeaPerch 2022 competition here: https://seaperch.org/programs/2022-season/
Two other team mates, Brooke and Izzy, are staying in New Zealand.
Can you help Thorben and Caitlin get to the States to represent Aotearoa in this International STEM competition?
I am the mum of one of the 15 year olds, Thorben.
Any funds raised will be used on flights and accommodation for Thorben and Caitlin.
