Wow! The final results are in for the International SeaPerch competition and our tamariki did AMAZING!! Waimea College Team Narwhal competed against 60 other high school teams from America and around the world. With just weeks to prepare, they placed in the top 10 in 2 out of the 4 categories!

    These are their final results:

    28th in Engineering Design

    5th in Team Video

    9th in underwater Mission course

    34th in underwater Obstacle course

So proud and grateful for all your support. This truly has been a pivotal learning moment for these young adults, representing Aotearoa on the world stage.

One of the last teams to compete today, Team Narwhal showed grit and determination to complete seven of the possible nine tasks in the mission course and race through the obstacle course. The lane judge said they should be very proud of their results and commented on their calmness under pressure.

No awards at the ceremony this evening, but this is a huge international event with many schools working all year with their students on their AquaBot and tactics. Our Nelson team found out less than 2 months ago that we could come and compete. So proud of the effort put in by the team and thank you again for all your support!

Thorben and Caitlin are practicing now in the practice pool surrounded by teams from around the States and the world, before competing in about five hours time. Thank you so much for all your generous support that has helped get these young adults from NZ all the way to Washington DC. We'll keep you posted!
