We are raising funds to send Simon to Melbourne to train with world class djembe players from West Africa at Camp Samatou and in the city.
Wellington
Simon Elwell is a djembe drumming teacher (djembe.nz) with infinite patience and a great sense of humour and he has created a beautiful community around him in Wellington through his sharing of this art form. He is the musical director of our group Kubatana & the Moringa Dancers (kubatana.nz). We want to get him to Melbourne to share in the experience of a world class training and community building opportunity. 4 days of drumming immersion with master drummers from West Africa at Camp Samatou, plus the opportunity to train with additional master drummers in Melbourne after camp. This is a great opportunity to gift him, to fill his cup with new inspiration so he can bring some great energy and music back to our Wellington (and greater NZ) drum and dance community!
Friends/Co-Directors of Kubatana & the Moringa Dancers. I have had the joy of dancing to Simon's beats for 15+ years!
The funds raised will be spent on tuition, camp fees, airfare and other travel expenses.
