It's been almost 4 years since the first call went out for the best of NZ to try-out for this amazing team. Now, this weekend has seen our last training as a full team before we all fly out for the World Cup in less than a month!! It's been an amazing journey so far and we can't wait to show the world how far we've come.

It's not all strategy and skills at our training weekends, we also attempt to keep up with our resident dancer, Pavey, during warmups!
It's fair to say, our feet were made for skating hahaha!
Time's getting short now with the World Cup only FIVE WEEKS AWAY, UNREAL!
Our main financial focus right now is on accommodation and van hire in Austria. I'm sure you can imagine, the cost is HIGH! Particularly seeing it's the middle of summer in that part of the world. So we appreciate any help you can give us. Even sharing this campaign is HUGELY helpful, you never know which super cool, uber generous millionbillionaire philanthropist might see it!
Twelve of our skaters are playing/ benching this weekend in the Pacific Invitational tournament in Brisbane this weekend!

What an incredible weekend in Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington this weekend! It was the first training for Team New Zealand Roller Derby for 2025 with a focus on Team Building and Development.
We have selected a number of Native New Zealand creatures to represent our team's World Cup journey and we're looking forward to sharing these with you soon.

Team New Zealand Roller Derby is proud to announce the selection of its team roster for the 2025 Roller Derby World Cup, scheduled to take place from July 3 to 6, 2025, in Innsbruck, Austria. With 49 teams competing, this marks the largest roller derby world cup ever held.
Team New Zealand Roller Derby has been running training and development weekends all over New Zealand since 2021. A series of training squad trials were hosted, with the training squad gradually growing from 2022. The most recent training squad trials were held in September 2024. The full training squad of over 40 skaters has been working together to build skills and teamwork, not just towards the 2025 World Cup, but for the future of the sport in New Zealand.
Skaters from over 13 leagues from around the world (most are based in New Zealand but the team does include some New Zealanders living overseas!) have been taking the skills, strategies and their development from the training weekends back to their regional leagues.
The World Cup trials were held over three weekends from October – December 2024, and from these trials, a final World Cup Team of 20 skaters and 5 reserves has been selected.
The team comprises talented athletes from across the country, each bringing unique skills and dedication to the sport. The team is set to begin intensive preparations for the World Cup, aiming to build on past successes and make a significant impact on the international stage.

It's getting real for Team New Zealand Roller Derby and our preparations for the World Cup. We're working on travel plans and the many fundraisers needed to get us to Austria!
Thankfully, with support from the Fearless Bruisers (World Cup hosts), we have accommodation locked in, the next step is to pay the deposit. So any help that we get here, or with any of our other fundraising efforts is HUGELY appreciated.
