Get the Brickley's to the UK for Grandad

    Kia Ora peeps.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you (again) to everyone who sent us messages, gave donations, aroha, and well wishes. Even if you didn’t know me or my family personally, you still helped and we appreciate it all.

Dad arrived home and safe a few weeks ago (luckily before Covid-19 was spreading) after spending some much needed time with the family back home in the UK. Unfortunately dad didn’t get to go to Grandads funeral in person but he was able to watch a livestream and he had a chance to say goodbye to him in person before leaving.

It was bloody hard for me and mum to be stuck here away from the rest of the family, going to work every day and keeping the place running when we wanted to be there.

We just wanted to have a final post now that Grandad has been laid to rest and is with his late wife Annie. We have a small tribute to him in the kitchen that everyone can see as soon as they walk in the door. The metal lamp was one that he used to take into the coal mines.

Rest In Peace Thomas Paul Brickley. I hope we’ve all done you proud

    Hey peeps 👋🏻

Just wanted to give you all a quick update on what’s been happening.

Dad is currently in England with the family and is due to come back to NZ on Wednesday 4th March. Unfortunately, due to how my grandad was hurt the coroner needs to do a post mortem... not that poor grandad hadn’t been cut up enough. The coroner is taking a very long time and won’t release his body yet. This means that my family can’t book his funeral or start to organise anything.

We are all hoping that dad is able to be there for the funeral but it’s a weird limbo type of feeling

Thanks so much every single one of you that have been generous, supported us and been following our story ❤️

    Love and light xx

Hey everyone! Thank you all for your continued support and generosity ❤️

Unfortunately we have gotten some bad news this morning. Grandad has gone downhill quite rapidly over the past 24 hours.

We have booked dad on an urgent flight to the UK on Wednesday. This has cost $2,500 for the flights, insurance and emergency passport (yikes!). Dad will be away for 2 weeks without pay (and with no money for accom or food) and we still really need your help.

Thank you so so much! You all mean the world to us x

    It's Grandad's 86th birthday today!

He is out of his coma now and no longer requires a ventilator to breathe. He can't talk because of the burns in his throat and oesophagus, and mainly communicates with blinks but he managed to whisper letters to form a small sentence " I need luck "

He still needs a few more operations and is very bandaged up but this is amazing progress considering the severity of his injuries!

The Brickley's want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you who have been so kind and generous.

Hi everyone. We are speechless from everyone's generosity. We really really appreciate everyone's support from sharing this link, to messaging us with well wishes to all of your donations.

Thomas is still in an induced coma and still has multiple surgeries ahead to remove more of the badly burnt skin and flesh. We are unsure if he has nerve damage at this stage. We are all remaining very hopeful.

    Once again, thank you!
