Get Torbs Back on His Feet

Our good friend, and my little brother Torben is currently fighting for his life in Dunedin ICU after a horrific car accident.

Torben is a genuine, kind, loving and empathetic man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. He is a staple in our community who fills the room with laughter and who always shows up willing to help.

Right now he needs ours.

Two vehicles were on their way to work on the 20th of August when the opposing driver who was distracted, crossed the center line, ploughing into the car Torben was the front passenger in. Torben's body received direct impact. His face, femur and arm were smashed and damage done to his diaphragm, organs and spine.

He was flown to Dunedin hospital for life saving surgery. At the time I'm writing this, he has had 2 and there are more planned.

We are yet to know extent of his brain damage.

We are so grateful he is alive.

Torben's recovery will be challenging. We are aware ACC will cover some specialised equipment. Torben will need new suitable accomodation, and may need to relocate across country to have the support he requires. Finds will also contribute to caring costs. As he will be on reduced income, we do not want Torben to suffer more than he already will, or have financial stress slow down his healing and recovery.
