I'm a University student trying to get to Cambodia where I can make a big difference!
Auckland
Here's a quick summary of what I'll be doing:
For my first week in Cambodia, I'll be helping repair schools and houses in villages (with some help from locals, local businesses, and other ROVolunteers)
Then we'll be learning how to prepare lunches with the community!
After which we'll be working with other village schools by helping them teach vital English skills and just playing sports with them. I wasn't the best in English, but I sure would love to help with everything I know to help the kids get far in life.
That's just what I'll be doing for the first week in my voluntary work in Cambodia!
For the second week, we'll be helping mistreated elephants, by planting food, harvesting ones that have grown, feeding them, and then bathing them! we'll also be working with other animals in the sanctuary. Then we set out to get orange cloth's to be blessed by monks so that they could be tied around trees so loggers will be hesitant to cut them down. Deforestation is a big no-no for the elephants!
I got involved into this because of a presentation from a ROVolunteer who talked about a lot of beautiful places with beautiful people that need our help!
All funds that are raised will be used for: paying for my food for the trip, putting a roof over my head, hiring local Cambodian businesses, materials for building, and transport around Cambodia. I will be paying for my own flight and insurance.
