Daniel has been selected to represent New Zealand's Kayaking Team going to the World Canoe Marathon Champs in Hungary.
Canterbury
Hi my name is Daniel McDowell,
I'm a 17 year old student from Shirley Boys High School in Christchurch. I am a member of the Arawa Canoe Club. My passion is flat water kayak, sprint and marathon racing. This month I was selected by Canoe Racing New Zealand to go to Gyor which is in Hungary to compete at the World Canoe Marathon Championships on September 11-13 2015. I will be racing in the junior section in the U18 K1. This selection is an amazing opportunity for me to be able to compete on the world stage and gain experience competing against the world best in my age group. The world champs will give me an important build up to the start of our racing season here in NZ and a good lead up to our National Champs earl next year. I also have just found out that I have been selected to the Paddle ID programme run by CRNZ. The Paddle ID is the entry level to the CRNZ High Performance Athletes Development pathway. Its purpose is to identify and support talented athletes and prepare them for the transition into the Paddle to Podium programme.
As there is no funding available through CRNZ I have to fundraise so that I'm able go, I need funding for flights, uniform, boat hire, accommodation and event fees.
Any contributions made would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Daniel
I'm Daniels mum and I'm doing this to help support Daniel.
