Help get GEOJ to New Zealand Fashion Week

Hi! My name is Georgia, I am known as Geo, and I am the creator of GEOJ OFFICIAL- a clothing label based in Christchurch.

I'm 17 years old and a second year Fashion student at Hagley School of Fashion. By the age of fifteen I was diagnosed with my fourth auto immune disease, It was not an easy time as I had to give up a number of things I loved. Ever since I was little I wanted to be either a fashion designer or a writer, my parents felt I should focus on what made me happy and gave me pleasure. Hagley gave me the amazing opportunity to continue my NCEA whilst studying fashion. As a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic with graves disease NCEA wasn't easy. Fashion has been amazing, I live and breath it. I have the opportunity to showcase a collection in New Zealand Fashion Week August/September 2017.

The last 12 months have been incredibly busy to say the least! I study full time and have a retail job which I need to keep the fabrics coming in. I have set up my label and in the first 12 months I have created three collections. my first collection was submitted into the Hokonui Fashion Awards, where I was a finalist. The second was showcased at Canterbury Fashion Week- where at age 16 I won EMERGING DESIGNER. With only five weeks notice I was asked to participate in Auckland Fashion Week March 2017. Although it was not an awards show I was given a great opportunity to showcase a winter collection.

I can work under pressure and at short notice, I love this business and I have a lot for everyone to see. I am seeking public funding/donations as the fees to enter alone are $5,000 plus gst. The minimum cost to enter, create the collection and travel to Auckland is $12,500.

The opportunity to showcase at New Zealand's largest fashion event would be life changing and would launch my label and career to a National and International audience.
