Get Harvey Home for Christmas

The goal of this page is to fund flights to return Harvey and myself to New Zealand for Christmas. Initially our plan was to transfer an already booked ticket however as it was under another name, Air NZ were unable to change the name or refund the balance. For this reason I am now stuck unable to front the costs to return us home for Christmas.

I wanted to provide some background as to why we are in a situation where we are unable to fund this, and also why returning to NZ for Christmas is so important to us. Some close friends already know the circumstances that brought us to the United Kingdom, but for those who aren't aware, I will explain those now.

In December of 2014 my partner and I decided that we would be placing my expected son up for an open adoption, the reasoning behind this was that I was already struggling on being present for my eldest son, and I didn't feel as though we would cope financially or emotionally with another child to care for. In December I made the decision to travel to the United Kingdom to complete the adoption process, mostly because I wanted to do such a sensitive matter away from the commotion back home in New Zealand.

Come April and Harvey was born, and after a very difficult delivery I spent a good few days in hospital meeting with social workers and re-thinking my decision. Unfortunately/fortunately Harvey stole my heart from the moment he was born, and I decided that I would reverse my decision, and do my best to be as best a Mum as I could with what I had. Which was pretty much nothing! I left the hospital after family lent me enough money to buy a car-seat and a moses basket for him to sleep in. Over the next few days charity workers visited and gifted us enough baby clothes/nappies and equipment to see us through.

Such an unexpected turn of events resulted in me having to spend the small amount of funds I had left, intended to return me to New Zealand. For these reasons I have been stuck in the United Kingdom for longer than I had anticipated, which has been hugely difficult as it's meant I have been away from Oliver for far longer than I had ever planned.

I really desperately want to return at the end of the year to see friends and family, and for Harvey to meet his Brother finally. I am planning a bake-sale and other forms of fundraising here to help contribute to the tickets cost, and only ask people to help who are able to, and know that I intend to pay any help forward in whatever way I can.
