Travel back to NZ from London & Rehabilitation after an assault in London leaving Joel Perry with a dislocated hip, broken knee & ankles.
Hawke's Bay
On Friday 9 June, Joel was mugged and assaulted in London. This left Joel with a dislocated hip, fractured pelvis, broken knee, fractured heel and fractured ankle. Joel is currently in King's College Hospital in London and has undergone three surgeries, the last of which was nine hours long.
Doctors have indicated that he will be able to travel back to NZ in six weeks time, with 6 to 12 month recovery time.
As Joel is not covered by ACC in NZ or UK Social Services, the cost of his travel back to NZ and all rehabilitation will have to be personally funded.
We are Joel's family, who want him home safe and sound and on the road to recovery as soon as possible.
To raise funds to help pay for Joel's flights back to NZ and the ongoing treatment he will require for the next 6 to 12 months.
Joel is coming home! 24 July 2017
On behalf of Joel's family, I am happy to announce that Joel has been given the 'green light' to travel back to New Zealand. This is much sooner than we all expected. Joel's doctors have confirmed that Joel will be safe to travel back to New Zealand this week.
Joel has made some great progress with his recovery and he has moved to using crutches for a limited time. There is still a long way for Joel to go but the doctors are very happy with the progress he has made in a relatively short period of time. Our Dad is over in the UK with Joel at the moment and Joel will be travelling back with him Tuesday (UK time). They both arrive into New Zealand on Thursday (NZ time).
Thank you all again for your incredible generosity. We are all looking forward to having Joel back in New Zealand where he can continue on the road to full recovery.
Thanks,
Kent
