Recent fashion graduate, Laura Bennett has the amazing opportunity to show her collection at NZ Fashion Week. Support her creative pursuit.

In 2016 I graduated as a top student of Bachelor of Design (fashion) at Otago Polytechnic. I have since been offered the incredible opportunity to showcase an extended collection in the Graduate Show of New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) in August 2017.
The Graduate Show is a recent addition to fashion week and showcases emerging talent to industry professionals.
I am incredibly humbled by such an amazing opportunity and the benefit it will have for the start of my fashion career.
I am required to create an additional 3 outfits to extend on my existing graduate collection, A Lucid Distraction.
A Lucid Distraction is a feminine, womenswear collection that focuses on the idea that 'in order to reconnect, one must disconnect'
It is an invitation to escape the digital realm in to the solace and wonder of nature. The collection gives a nod to the Bohemian era with silhouettes emphasising freedom and nostalgia. The kaleidoscope of colour aims to draw audiences into a optimistic mindset.
My collections are always textile driven and A Lucid Distraction displays a personal painting digitally printed on different silks and natural fibres. The flat print is then juxtaposed with hand weaved merino roving.
I design minimalist clothing with a maximalist aesthetic and create contemporary classics that appeal to generations of women.

I am never one to ask for financial assistance but I have recently found myself at a loss due to an unfortunate deal. And creating a fashion collection comes at a large financial expense.
Any funds raised will go directly in to my NZFW account. Funds will be used to pay for materials and fabric such as sourcing more digitally printed silk from Sydney and the UK. Also a photoshoot, flights and accommodation in Auckland.
I thank you in advance for your generosity and kind support!
